The pursuit of socio-economic sustenance in today’s world cannot be achieved in isolation. The huge impact of the small- scale mechanic business in Ghana's automobile industry can not be underestimated. The thriving of the small-scale mechanic business in Ghana has a multiplying socio-economic benefit to the whole country. When small-scale mechanics in the informal sector are equipped with contemporary automobile servicing skills, they can compete with the well-established automobile services businesses for market share. In furtherance, efficiently trained mechanics that give their customers value would not be tempted to involve themselves in vices that goes against the societal norms.

It against this background we offer to provide a Competency-Based Apprenticeship Programme for 7,200 Small-Scale Auto- Mechanics. Our Programme creates a virtuous circle of economic growth by allowing people to live a dignified, fulfilling and decent lifestyle. The training shall take place in all the 16 regions of Ghana.

Equipping beneficiaries (there of 40% women and 50% youth) with auto-mechanic skills upgrade, certification, enterprise development and a web-based application to enhance productivity, efficiency, revenue mobilization, achieve customer intimacy illuminates path to large customer-network and sustainable growth. This Programme does not only set the tone for job creation, it reduces poverty and accelerate labor mobility resources across Ghana to achieve the objective of the 24-Hour economy policy.

This training Programme developed by GLE Connect and conceptualized under the principles of competency-based training promotes income generation and local development, emphasizing the role of skills and knowledge for creating new economic and employment opportunities for the poor, the underemployed, the unemployed, informal economy workers and the otherwise disadvantaged, towards sustained economic activities.

We believe, that failing to provide young people with technical and vocational skills, technology, business advisory support, career coaching Programmes, supportive relationships, and physical and psychological safety would not only squander labor resources but also create redistributive pressures and distortions. Moreover, it would Exacerbate Poverty, Impede Labor Mobility, and Fuel Social Unrest and Conflict.
